About
As the smallest volcano in Italy, this natural gas vent certainly lives up to its name.
Monte Busca Volcano is not a typical mountain of flame and ash. Locals know it by its inside joke name, Monte Busca. This small mountain of rocks would be an alarming mountain only to an insect but does have a constant jet of flames issuing from its apex. The flame is the result of a natural gas vent that erupts when gas reacts with the surface oxygen. While the flame is mainly an oddity for tourists, the Monte Busca Volcano's fire was used in WWII, for minor cooking and production.
