About
Serving as a major landmark in Turin, Italy, the Mole Antonelliana was designed by Alessandro Antonelli and completed in 1889.
Its name is derived from the Italian word for "building of monumental proportions" and its construction began soon after Italian unification. Originally intended as a synagogue, it now serves as the National Museum of Cinema and is known to be the tallest museum worldwide. The building is even featured on the Italian 2 euro cent coin. Rare Catalan vaults can be seen in the ceiling of its ground floor atrium, a popular feature originating from Spain rather than Italy.
