About

The stunning Lago di Ledro, located at an elevation of 655 m in the valley of the same name between Lake Garda and Lake Idro, covers a total area of 2.2 km² and reaches a maximum depth of 48 metres.

This alpine lake was formed by a moraine from the ancient Garda glacier and is renowned for its emerald green hue and crystal-clear water that mirrors the majestic mountains. It is widely considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the Trentino region, surrounded by enchanting forests in a fairytale-like setting. Historically isolated, it wasn't until 1847 that the first road was constructed featuring narrow serpentines. In recent times, a new road with two galleries was built, providing access to Val di Ledro valley. The old road remains a challenging course for mountain bikers. Among its many attractions, Lake Ledro is famous for an archaeological discovery made in 1929 when its water level was lowered for construction work on a power station in Riva del Garda. The findings included well-preserved Bronze Age pile dwellings which have become popular tourist sites across Europe.
