About
Established in 2004, the International Music Museum and Library is located in the historical center of Bologna in the prestigious Palazzo Sanguinetti.
It offers a diverse exhibition itinerary, housed in exquisitely frescoed rooms that were once home to Gioacchino Rossini. The museum boasts a renowned collection of printed music repertoire from the 16th to the 18th centuries, including incunabula, precious manuscripts, opera librettos, and autographs. These valuable items were obtained through Father Martini's correspondence with prominent figures, scholars, and musicians of the time. Beyond the exhibit rooms, visitors can explore a faithful reconstruction of famous luthier Otello Bignami's workshop, generously donated by his heirs. The museum also features a space for events, multimedia stations, educational workshops, a temporary exhibition area, and a bookshop.
