About
Located along Strada Maggiore, the Church of Santi Bartolomeo e Gaetano has a long and storied history dating back to the 11th century.
Initially destroyed in 1516, it was eventually replaced with a grander structure that still stands today. Its impressive porch is a testament to this reconstruction period. In the late 15th century, the church came under the care of the Theatines who oversaw its renovation and added their founder's name, San Gaetano Thiene, to its title. The new renovations included a towering bell tower that can be seen from via San Vitale, standing at an impressive 52 meters tall. Inside, visitors can admire artwork from renowned Bolognese artists such as Ludovico Carracci and Guido Reni from the 17th century.
