About
A far-off island in the Adriatic Sea is home to an abandoned monastery.
The Tremiti Islands are a small archipelago in the Adriatic Sea, located off the coast of Italy’s Gargano Peninsula. According to the legend, the Virgin Mary appeared to a hermit on one of the islands allowing him to find the legendary tomb of Diomedes, a hero in Greek mythology. With the treasure found in the tomb, the hermit built a church on the island.
