Milan's castle
For centuries the Milanese have considered the Castle an emblem of tyranny and foreign domination. Several times, in a long history, citizens have attempted to attack and demolish the hated building. Only with the Unification of Italy, transforming itself into a center of culture, did the Castle become dear to the Milanese and the symbol of the city.
