The Excelsior Palace Hotel in Rapallo is the only 5-star luxury hotel on the Portofino Coast. It is situated 2 km from Santa Margherita Ligure, facing east on the bay of Rapallo and west on the coast of Portofino.
The Kursaal Rapallo opened its doors on January 1st, 1901, marking the beginning of the twentieth century. Located proudly on the coast between Rapallo and Portofino, it quickly became a top destination for Europe's elite, attracted by the legendary climate and casino tables. As a result of its numerous and enthusiastic clientele, it soon required expansion. Designed by Swiss architect Verrey, the New Casino Hotel was built nearby with a direct connection to the games room under the supervision of engineer Enrico Machiavello.
