The prestigious Monticello was globally recognized when it hosted and organized the 1975 Italian Open, which was ultimately won by Billy Casper. In the following years, Monticello continued to host the Italian Open a total of six times with renowned players such as Sam Torrance, Sandy Lyle, and Greg Norman, who still holds the title.
